Brown spends election night with the people: Watch his victory speech

While Democratic Party establishment figures spent election night enjoying fancy food with the media and their corporate sponsors at Kountry Kitchen’s 910 North Event Center, newly elected City-County Councilor Jesse Brown was with community members, organizers, and students at the Indianapolis Liberation Center. Brown is the first openly-socialist member of the Council who, in the May primaries, beat incumbent Zach Adamson, who represented District 13 since 2012 and has, since 2015, served as the Council’s Vice-President.

Watch and listen to Brown’s short remarks after winning almost 80% of the votes in District 13 as part of the “Assembly of the Unrepresented” People’s Election Night Watch Party.

“It’s about all of us”

We encourage everyone to read the entirety of the infamous Eugene Debs’ “speech”Canton Speech” from which Brown quotes and for which Debs was sentenced to prison for delivering on June 16, 1918.
