Students for Socialism – IUPUI is hosting an educational film screening and discussion of the Empire Files’ award-winning documentary, Gaza Fights For Freedom at the Indianapolis Liberation Center. The debut feature film by journalist Abby Martin covers the historic Great March of Return protests between March 2018 and December 2019.

The documentary started while Martin, reporting in Palestine, was denied entry into Gaza by the Israeli government on the accusation she was a “propagandist.” Martin then connected with a team of journalists in Gaza to produce the film through the blockaded border.

During the weekly Great March of Return protests, over 200 unarmed Palestinians were killed by Israeli snipers. At the screening, you’ll see and hear from victims of the ongoing massacre, including journalists, medics, and even the family of internationally-acclaimed paramedic, Razan al-Najjar.

At its core the documentary is an indictment of Israeli war crimes and the heroic Palestinian resistance to occupation and apartheid.
