This action is being organized by the Middle Eastern Student Association at IUPUI. The following text was written by PSL Indianapolis to motivate their followers and everyone they know to attend.
Friday, October 20
The Middle Eastern Student Association at IUPUI called for a protest in support of Palestine, and PSL Indianapolis strongly encourages our supporters–and everyone with a conscience–to show up for this action. Israel’s already brutal war against Gaza and their project of fully occupying all of Palestine is intensifying to an unimaginable degree.
Israel has cut off access to food, water, and electricity, all of which are already limited because of Israel’s deadly blockade. With the full support of the U.S. government, Israel is killing thousands of Palestinians and could murder tens of thousands more. Palestine is besieged by non-stop attacks using bombs, bullets, missiles, and other weaponry with the funding of U.S. tax dollars.
Across the country, masses of people have taken to the streets in several actions since Israel’s latest bombardment of Gaza started. The same is true across the world and right here. In less than a week, there were two massive actions in support of Palestine: the October 12 “Day of Resistance” and the October 15 “Vigil for Gaza”. We were proud to have PSL Indianapolis member Rachel deliver this powerful statement at the latest action and we stand by her closing remarks: “Now is the time to mobilize and demand freedom for Palestine.”
It is clear that the people of Indianapolis demand an end to the U.S. war machine and a free Palestine! The U.S. military and their outpost in the Middle East, Israel, have taken too many lives already.
If you are looking for more information about the origins of Zionism and the Zionist project, we recommend reading or listening to Richard Becker’s Palestine, Israel and the U.S. Empire, which is available as a free audiobook.
As long as the latest stage of Israel’s settler-colonial project continues, we must stay in the streets. We will see you on Friday!
