Banks, real estate developers, and corporations continue to shape our city to meet their needs. New luxury condominiums continue to be built while increasing numbers of city residents lack access to adequate and affordable housing. The Near Eastside is no exception, as our streets are increasingly peppered with gentrified houses despite the fact that nearly 25 percent of our existing housing stock is vacant.
Since 2019, the Indianapolis branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation has been struggling to make housing a human right in the city, state, and country. Join us on January 21 for a speakout to help build a movement to ensure that the Near Eastside–and all of Indianapolis–is made to fit the needs of the people, not profit!
