Free speech? Not according to Indy politicians

At the August 12 City-County Council meeting, the people proved that “No business as usual” is more than just a slogan during a genocide. The Indianapolis city government seems determined to undermine our democratic processes, free speech, and demands for action against sexual abuse. In the video below, watch how the City-County Council used police to forcibly remove protesters and cut off public comments and how Mayor Joe Hogsett runs out of the building instead of answering any questions.

Indy politicians show they don’t represent us

After presenting his 2025 budget, Mayor Joe Hogsett offered a weak apology to two of the three former staffers who exposed sexual abuse in his office, before running away from the people demanding answers.

Councilor Jesse Brown drafted a ceasefire resolution against the ongoing Israeli genocide against the Palestinian people, yet no other councilors would co-sponsor the bill to discuss and bring to a vote at a full council meeting. Brown made clear that it is not up to the Council to decide which comments are relevant during the public comment period. Brown was even reprimanded by Council President Vop Osili.
