Show up and show out on Monument Circle at noon on Saturday, March 15th to demand freedom and justice for the political prisoner Mahmoud Khalil, whose only “crime” is speaking up against genocide.

Just days ago, pro-Palestine activist and organizer Mahmoud Khalil was unjustly and illegally arrested without any charges in New York City by agents from the Department of Homeland Security.

Officials in the Trump-led government have signaled that they plan to deport Khalil, despite the fact that he is a green card holder. Khalil has not been charged with any crime. Rather, he was targeted specifically because of first-amendment protected speech in support of Palestine and his role as a student organizer who played a central part in the student encampment at Columbia University. Columbia has since caved to Trump’s pressure and suspended dozens of other student organizers for Palestine.

Khalil is now being held in an ICE detention center in Louisiana, awaiting potential deportation. If he is successfully expelled from the country, this could set a grave precedent, opening the door to a larger wave of repression against anyone whose speech the government deems as unacceptable.

Only a mass movement of the people can deter the far-right officials in the Trump administration from carrying out this blatant violation of human rights and democratic norms. Join the mass movement already underway across the country to free our student Mahmoud and protect our right to freedom of speech!

When we stand up, and fight back, we win! See you in the streets!
