Support Irvington Vinyl & Books and Hope Packages this weekend!

Saturday, July 29
12:00-3:00 pm
Indianapolis Liberation Center
55 S. State Ave., 3rd Floor

For five years, Irvington Vinyl & Books has been a key resource for our community. As an independent bookstore, they’re the go-to place for books and records but, even more importantly, they aren’t afraid to take stances on pressing political issues. They consistently support the people’s struggles and community organizations.

For three years, Hope Packages has provided direct aid and built political consciousness and solidarity among the various communities across Indianapolis, specifically giving much-needed aid to our fellow impoverished and homeless or unhoused neighbors. Founded by Indy10 BLM & PSL Indianapolis, we come together to assemble care packages to distribute wherever they are.

In order to keep going, however, both need the continued generosity and support of our community.

That’s why this weekend, Hope Packages is supporting Irvington Vinyl & Books for a donation drive, assembly, and distribution. Between 12:00 – 3:00 pm, stop by the Indianapolis Liberation Center to drop off and/or assemble these needed items:

  • New or gently used records, books, and other literature
    • Note: as the store has limited space, we don’t need lots of duplicates or common ones!
  • Food items
    • applesauce, canned sliced fruit, granola & other cereal/protein/fiber bars, macaroni, spaghetti, and easy-to-make meals
  • Adult hygiene products
    • Deodorant, tampons/pads, nail-clippers, face wipes shampoo, and conditioner
  • Socks and underwear
  • Bus passes
  • Bottled fruit juice (no water needed right now)

We hope to see everyone there so we can press on with our important community work and continue building community in the process. Because it’s clear we can’t rely on the state to do it, we must support each other!
