May 31, June 28, July 26, and August 30
11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Warman St. Community Garden
1138 Warman Ave.
Please note this series is for the residents of Haughville due to space constraints and other considerations.
The Haughville community is invited to learn about sustainable growing techniques grounded in traditional African farming practices from seed to soil, flourishing to finishing. The course is the result of Cultivate uniting with IDOC Watch and FOCUS Initiatives LTD. through the Indianapolis Liberation Center. Our fellow member-organizations gifted Cultivate a plot of land on which Congolese migrants have been planting and growing seeds they brought with them from their home country. The result is the following series of classes:
Saturday, May 31 @ 11 am: Filling beds, sowing seeds, and tarping. Learn how to get a garden started!
Saturday, June 28 @ 11 am: Weeding, pest management, and pruning: Learn how to manage and maintain in the garden
Saturday, July 26 @ 11 am: Harvesting, disease prevention, and preservation: Learn how to harvest vegetables and address diseases before they emerge.
Saturday, August 30 @ 11 am: Cooking class: Learn how to cook African dishes with vegetables grown in the garden.
