Join the Party for Socialism and Liberation for a documentary screening at the Indianapolis Liberation Center exposing the ramifications of putting data centers in our communities.
We will begin by viewing “Exposing the Dark Side of America’s AI Data Center Explosion.” Following the film, we will open a discussion to explore the environmental impacts of data centers and examine how they benefit billionaires and the ultra-rich at the expense of the working class.
Indiana has become a prime target for new data centers due to its affordability and generous tax breaks, with dozens proposed across the state. That’s why it’s vital for the working class to organize and resist the expansion of data centers wherever possible. In fighting data centers, we directly confront the capitalist system.
Over the last decade, the rise of AI has spurred big tech companies into an arms race to leverage this technology in pursuit of greater wealth. Many are actively developing AI models intended to replace human workers—prioritizing profit over people’s livelihoods. This practice is nothing new for the capitalist class, which has consistently placed profits above the well-being of people and the planet.
To placate the public, big tech companies often claim that data centers bring jobs and economic benefits to communities. In reality, these facilities degrade local environments through air, noise, light, and groundwater pollution, while draining critical energy and water resources—all while creating very few permanent jobs.
This event is open to anyone interested in joining the struggle, engaging in lively discussion, or learning more about data centers and their impacts. We hope to see you there!
