On Monday, January 24th, the Indiana General Assembly will hold a committee hearing on House Bill 1041, which would single out trans youth and ban them from participating in school athletics with their cisgender peers. This is not the only anti-trans bill being reviewed in the Statehouse, however. Senate Bill 34 would prohibit affirming care for trans youths under 18, and Senate Bill 402 would legally define gender-affirming care and socialization as a form of child abuse.
The ACLU of Indiana has called for a mass demonstration at the south atrium of the Indiana Statehouse at 8am, and the PSL will be there to support the people as they fight back against the enshrinement of transphobic policy in the education system. You can also sign the petition below to let your voice be heard. Demand that Indiana public schools reaffirm its role as a service for ALL people, regardless of gender identity!
