The political narratives of Carlos Sosa and his art

We are honored to have the delicately yet powerful work of Carlos Sosa at the Indianapolis Liberation Center this month.

Sosa, whose exhibit is the latest entry in our Fourth Friday series, created the logo for the Center’s Fonseca-Du Bois Gallery powered by Arte Mexicano en Indiana.

Art has always told stories to and from Sosa, and his goal is to pass these and incoming narratives to his children, audiences, and broader community. In this video, it’s clear he accomplishes that mission with ease. In addition to Sosa, watch the Gallery’s Assistant Director, Johnny Willems, introduce the Center and Arte Mexicano en Indiana’s Director Eduardo Luna articulate how Sosa revolutionized Indy’s art scene in the early 2000s, making it possible for Latinos to display their creative works throughout the city and beyond.
