Introduction
One of the most important obstacles the struggle in Indianapolis, Indiana, the U.S., and worldwide must overcome is the generational and other breaks in the continuity of any particular struggle. The Indianapolis Liberation Center, as one of the longest-standing independent and multi-organizational hubs for movement activity, prioritizes cultivating, developing, and retaining a collective memory of particular struggles. That way, rather than starting from ground zero, we have resources we can look to and on which we can build to not only continue the fight but advance the movement overall, much like our living Palestine archive.
For example, how many young people in the streets to defend Iran today were around for the rapid activity in our city in 2020 after Trump assassinated General Qasem Soleimani and other Iranian generals on January 3? These acts were not only violated internatonal law but, as later came to light, took place while Gen. Soleimani was on his way to Baghdad as a diplomat of Iran to attend a planned meeting with Iraqi’s Prime Minister as part of ongoing talks to de-escalate tensions in the region. How many people remember that the very next day, ANSWER Indiana led an emergency demonstration, along with 80 cities across the country? We stayed in the streets until the people of the world prevented the war from escalating and forced Trump to back down. Because the corporate media completely omits or falsifies this history and the other contexts necessary for understanding and stopping the U.S. war against Iran, we’re taking the task on ourselves.
Donate today to sustain the anti-war movement in Indiana!
