Thursday, November 22
7:00 – 9:00 pm
Indianapolis Liberation Center
Transgender Day of Remembrance is not just a day of mourning. It is also a day to remember and celebrate loved ones who are no longer with us. The Party for Socialism and Liberation and Y’all for All reject a society in which people are not able to live as their true selves!
The ruling class wants us to live in a world in which we are constantly in fear, in despair, and mourning. While we will gather to mourn our trans siblings, we will also use this time to celebrate their lives. As we come together to shed tears and share stories of our trans loved ones who are no longer here, we also will recommit ourselves to building a better world in their name and in their honor especially in light of the recent election. Their deaths will not be in vain! We must fight to construct an inclusive, socialist system not just to honor their memories, but also to ensure nobody else must endure the hate and repression so many trans people have experienced.
As this is a day for mourning, celebration, and action, pull up to the Indy Liberation Center prepared for a variety of activities. We’ll listen to music, share food, construct an altar of pictures of our loved ones, discuss what we must do to protect our trans siblings, and more. Bring pictures of your loved ones and, perhaps just as important, bring a will to fight back in their honor.
