Tired of the endless false promises, showboating, and imperial gloating of traditional American politics? Trump has said this may be the last election in which people need to vote while the Democrats are saying once again that this is the most important election of our lives. On October 30, come out to hear how we’re going to keep building for a truly democratic system regardless of who wins the electoral college’s votes. PSL organizers will be updating us on the Party for Socialism and Liberation’s presidential and vice presidential candidates, Claudia de la Cruz and Karina Garcia. You can write-in your vote for them on November 5 in Indiana and before that, you can read more about their program and learn how to get involved beyond casting your ballot.
Speakers will also be educating us on how Cuba has developed a blueprint for real representative democracy for us to follow. The Cuban people have built a system of democratic elections that has produced the most progressive and inclusive family code in the world as well as national assemblies that are actually representative of women (both in composition and in their legislative priorities).
And finally, we will be provided with an accurate perspective on Hezbollah. As Israel launches another spree of war crimes against Lebanon, the media, Republicans, and Democrats have largely called for more blood and mandatory condemnation of Hezbollah. Many of us do not know very much about the Party of God (aka Hezbollah), which has only formally existed for 41 years. Hezbollah is a legally recognized political party in Lebanon—imagine if a foreign invader claimed they were targeting Indianapolis with air strikes because it was a Democrat stronghold!
In the last eight years, we’ve seen a radical change in public consciousness starting around Bernie Sanders’s campaign for president in 2016. As always, it was the masses that popularized the core concepts of socialism and a resurgent interest not just in reforms to capitalism but meaningful alternatives to it. Since then, we have seen the ruling class attempt to stem the tide of people demanding a system that works for them rather than a clique of billionaires who are destroying the planet and plundering it for themselves. Together, we can make this alternative system, and the PSL will be working to build it on November 5, November 6, and every day after.
