Our Mission and Vision

The following mission and vision was adopted by the Indianapolis Liberation Center Steering Committee on May 10, 2025.

Our Mission

The Indianapolis Liberation Center is premised on the historical reality that liberation is not gifted by the oppressor but is won through organized and united mass struggle. Recognizing that unity is a difficult process, we intentionally engage our varied educational, cultural, political, spiritual, and other programming to bridge the artificial divides imposed on us by the ruling class.

Rejecting competition and embracing cooperation, we bring community members, organizers, and those who want to learn to become organizers together, helping to train a new generation of activists and fighters to win a world organized around the interests of the earth and its inhabitants. By organizing across different sectors of our city and serving as an incubator for new organizations, we are rebuilding a sense of collectivity and reviving our community’s long-standing belief in the possibility and necessity of creating a different and better world.

Our Vision

We envision a world where the chains of exploitation are not only weakened but eradicated. In a city and world free from imperialism, white supremacy, and the divisive and dehumanizing systems of oppression they uphold, structures of mutual respect, care, cooperation, and justice bind us together. Through the joy of collective struggle, liberation is not only a dream but a necessity and a reality. We are not here to reform a dying system–we exist to abolish it—and build something beautiful in its place.

About the Center

The Center is maintained solely by the work of volunteers and the donations of people from our community, our member organizations, and affiliated groups. While posing significant obstacles, it is the only way to ensure our complete political independence.
