Every year, both nationally and locally, anti-choice activists take to the streets of Indianapolis to protest against reproductive rights. This year, we are responding: Abortion access is a Hoosier value! We support the right to choose when, if, and how to be a parent!

Abortion and contraceptive access are often central themes when discussing reproductive healthcare. But there is more to the full range of reproductive care to which all people should have the right: Quality and accurate sex education; contraceptives and the morning-after pill; abortion care; elective sterilization; appropriate care during miscarriage and stillbirth; and pre- and post-natal care are all critical to full reproductive justice.
However, as feminists, our struggle isn’t only for a limited set of rights: it is a struggle against patriarchy and oppression of all kinds. When fighting for reproductive healthcare, we also fight for healthcare that benefits all people — including discrimination-free, comprehensive and safe healthcare for LGBTQ people. When talking about misogyny and attacks on women, we proudly, unabashedly, and with the utmost urgency defend our trans sisters and denounce anyone who denies their womanhood. When talking about gender equality, we recognize that gender itself is a broad and brilliant spectrum, not an “either/or” binary. And when fighting for reproductive justice, we understand that is especially a struggle for poor and working-class people and oppressed communities, such as the Black, Indigenous, and Latinx communities who are particularly impacted.
We hope you’ll join us on Monument Circle, January 22nd at 11:30am to lend your voice to the struggle. End the stigma! End the shame! Abortion access is a human right! For a world free of misogyny and patriarchy!
