We’re answering the call from the family of Dalys Jett and asking all people of conscience to stand with us, other members of his community, and other supporters this Friday.
That night, there will be a press conference at 5:00 pm followed by a candlelight vigil from 6 – 9 pm to honor and remember Dalys’ life, stand in solidarity with his family, and continue demanding truth, transparency, and justice.
Dalys was a 21-year-old college student when he was killed by IMPD officers Jessica Dickinson, Donald Meier, and Michael Totten on July 22. Two officers were shot during the encounter. Initially, the police reported that Dayls fired at both officers. After slandering his name, they later reported that one of the cops shot another cop. Initially, the Dalys’ family was told they could view the bodycam footage after the last officer was out of the hospital and had a chance to review it and make a statement. That cop was released on August 3, and the family has still not seen the footage.
Come out and demand transparency and that the IMPD immediately show the bodycame footage to the family. They need to know what to tell Dalys’ Jr. who will no longer grow up with a caring and loving father.
Thank you to Pastor Denell Howard, as always, for opening Hovey St. Church for such an important cause.
