This weekend, the Indianapolis Liberation Center is joining the Strong Neighbor rally on Monument Circle to call for political representation and to demand an end to data center approval.
The Metropolitan Development Commission and the city-council have refused a moratorium, or a temporary halting of approval of data centers. “We are not a city that will be banning something like infrastructure,” says Prospective Mayor, City Councilman “Vop” Osili after he reveals how out of touch he is with Hoosiers when he claims that most see data centers, “in the very same way that we view power lines, telephone lines and sewer lines.”
As we approach the 250th anniversary of the United States, it is moments like these that highlight the growing divide between what our political leadership is telling us versus what it’s actually like living under the capitalist system. And when our leaders fail us, it’s the people’s responsibility to stand up in opposition.
