This new ANSWER Indiana anti-war reader, released on April 1, 2026, demonstrates how the illegal war against Iran the United States and Israel launched at the end of February is a deadly escalation in a decades-long campaign of hybrid war against the Iranian people, their government, and their 1979 revolution that overthrew the hated U.S.-backed Shah.
The war is also part of a nearly centuries-long effort by the U.S. and European powers to undermine Iran’s sovereignty and reshape West Asia to align with the goals of imperialism. This hybrid war has taken many forms, from regime change, puppet governments, economic sanctions, embargoes, proxy wars, assassinations, propaganda campaigns, and more.
