6:00 – 9:00 pm
Fonseca-Du Bois Gallery
1619 Prospect St
$10 – $20 suggested donation for supplies and to support Indy’s marginalized artists
The Fonseca-Du Bois Gallery invites the community to a closing event for Solstice in Spirit, the exhibition featuring the work of painter Oscar Toloza—not as a conclusion, but as a moment of gathering, reflection, and creative continuation.
Toloza will host a community artist workshop inside the gallery, welcoming artists, organizers, neighbors, and first-time visitors to meet, discuss, learn, and make art together. The workshop is designed as a shared space—one where conversation and collective creation matter as much as the artwork itself.
Supplies will be provided, and participants will bring their creativity to life on canvas. Whether you come with years of experience or simply the desire to create, this workshop offers an accessible entry point into artistic practice rooted in solidarity, memory, and community.
The solstice marks a turning point rather than an ending—a shift in light, a pause for reflection, and a reminder that cycles continue. This closing workshop embraces that same spirit. It is an opportunity to gather at the threshold: to reflect on the exhibition, to share space with the artist, and to carry its energy forward through collective creation.
The event also offers another chance for the Fountain Square neighborhood and the wider Indianapolis community to experience the new Fonseca-Du Bois Gallery space. During the workshop, Oscar Toloza will have prints available for purchase, and the Indy Liberation Store will be open, featuring revolutionary art and materials from around the world.
The Fonseca-Du Bois Gallery is sustained through the support of its volunteers and visitors, not through funding that imposes restrictions on artistic or political expression. Community support keeps the gallery independent and accessible, and we appreciate any donations.
We invite you to join us for this closing gathering—an evening of art, conversation, and collective spirit that reflects both the heart of Solstice in Spirit and the mission of the Fonseca-Du Bois Gallery.
