Socialists and war: Two opposing trends session 3

Sunday, January 12
2:00 – 4:00 pm
Indianapolis Liberation Center

Join anti-war activists and members of the Party for Socialism and Liberation for our third and final class on Socialists and war: Two opposing trends by anti-war leaders Brain Becker and Mazda Majidi. This concluding session equips the people with the knowledge on the expanding U.S.-Israeli war drive throughout the Middle East and why we stand firm in our opposition to imperialist wars the world over.

In the final section of the book, titled “Libya and the Western Left,” we will dive into the history of the 2011 NATO bombing of Libya and how the lack of a clear anti-imperialist agenda among the Western left prevented an effective anti-war movement from materializing. We will also discuss the history of socialism and anti-imperialism, debates within the left about how to relate to our own imperialist governments’ wars, and how socialists helped initiate a global decolonial movement in the 20th century.

Learn about how apologists make excuses for imperialist wars including sanctions even among so-called “progressives” and “socialists,” and most importantly how we can fight back against this trend in 2025.

Attendees can get a copy of the book at the event, or purchase one beforehand at the Indianapolis Liberation Center Store. No prior reading required!
