Since May 2020, Indy PSL has held several speak outs and protests to demand the immediate cancellation of rent and mortgage payments for tenants, homeowners, small landlords and other small businesses!
Join the PSL Indy contingent as we demand:

It’s absolutely crucial that we show up to publicly denounce these reactionary attacks, primarily a vote scheduled for 1:30 pm this Monday that would override Governor Holcomb’s veto of SEA 148 on March 25 of 2020–his only veto of the entire year.
According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, “SEA 148 would have substantially changed existing landlord-tenant law to weaken state protections for renters, who comprise more than 30% of the state’s population. The bill would have nullified positive tenant protections from cities and other local governments, such as an anti-retaliation ordinance and a policy requiring landlords to notify tenants of their rights and responsibilities recently passed in Indianapolis. The Indiana Apartment Association, a powerful interest group representing landlords across Indiana, supported SEA 148, arguing that different housing policies across cities contributes to high administrative costs and rents.”
The General Assembly’s efforts to override the veto are a direct assault on working-class and other oppressed Hoosiers by weakening the already insufficient protections for tenants in the state. It’s yet another example of the protecting the interests of large landowners and could lead to even more evictions during these cold days.
