The Martindale Brightwood community is mobilizing to stop a data center from being built on a 13-acre lot in their neighborhood—the site of a former drive-in theater. Their effort comes on the heels of a recent victory in Franklin Township, where residents united to defeat a similar proposal from Google. Despite that precedent, the tech startup Metroblok is pushing forward with its project in the historically Black Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood.
To fight back, residents are forming the “Protect Martindale Brightwood” coalition. They aim to stop the development and protect the area from its potential pollution and environmental destruction. The coalition is holding a rally at the proposed site on Monday, October 13, at 6:00 p.m. Stand with Martindale Brightwood and help them tell corporate interests that their community is not for sale!
This action is endorsed by the following Indianapolis Liberation Center Groups: Hope Packages: Unity, Struggle, Solidarity, PSL Indianapolis, Touch Grass, Indy, and the Shaka Shakur Freedom Campaign!
