Trump thought (and quickly claimed) that the U.S. war against Iran that started on February 28 would be easily won in a short period of time. On that day, they murdered 180 girls at the Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School in Minab and assassinated Supreme Leader Khamenei. Yet the illegal assassination did not weaken the Iranian government or people’s resolve to defend their independence and sovereignty. In a measured response, Iran immediately struck numerous U.S. bases in the region, causing an estimated $800 million in damage in two weeks. On March 27, Iran fired ballistic missiles and drones at Saudi Arabia, injuring over a dozen U.S. troops. Importantly, Iran has not retaliated by assassinating any U.S. political or military leader.

Meanwhile, the latest polling indicates a majority of people in the U.S. either oppose or strongly oppose the war. However, the mainstream political establishment hasn’t put up any resistance. The Democratic Party has only objected to procedural issues. While the American people want the war to end, none of our elected representatives are working to end it. Only the Iranian forces, their allies, and a mass anti-war movement in the U.S. is capable of ending the war and forcing the U.S. out of West Asia.
