There’s no doubt about it: we’re facing a new wave of reactionary legislation, like Senate Enrolled Act 285, which prohibits people from utilizing public spaces for shelter or sleep. The law’s author admittedly has no idea how local police will enforce it. That’s where we come in. Lugar Plaza’s designation as a “park” earlier this year is another attack on our hungry and homeless neighbors and another excuse to increase the police’s presence.
This Saturday, we’ll meet at Lugar Plaza to distribute the much-needed aid contained in the Hope Packages and build solidarity with our homeless and most vulnerable neighbors.
