Eugene Puryear: How to win Black Liberation now?

On May 17, the Liberation Center had the honor of hosting a special PSL Indianapolis event featuring organizer, journalist, and author Eugene Puryear. The event came a day after the conclusion of a three-part study and discussion series on his book, Shackled and Chained: Mass Incarceration in Capitalist America. Puryear’s talk focused on the current state of the Black Liberation movement in the U.S. and provided the necessary historical and global context to not only understand the movement but, ultimately, lead it to victory. Also joining Puryear was Shaka A. Shakur, who recently read Puryear’s book and whose own selection of prison writings is due out by 1804 books this Black August. If you couldn’t make the event, this is the next best thing.
