On Saturday, March 2, the Citizens Concerned About Police Action Shootings Coalition led a rally outside of the Burger King on 21st and Shadeland in which Freddie Davis was murdered by IMPD. The group, composed of the families of IMPD victims, religious leaders, Indy Liberation Center member PSL Indianapolis, and concerned citizens, has consistently demanded that Burger King release the video footage of Freddie Davis’ killing for over three months. However, Burger King repeatedly stated that they could not do so. As a result, the coalition rallied the neighborhood that Freddie Davis and his mother lived in to let Burger King know they could not solicit money from members of the community and be complicit in the same citizen’s murder.

At 10:37 AM the morning of the protest, a representative from Burger King’s Human Resources department sent an email to Elder Mmoja Ajabu stating that they would be allowing the immediate family of Davis to view the footage and requested that there not be a boycott.

This was after weeks of Freddie’s mother, Elder Ajabu, and other concerned citizens calling and requesting Burger King to release the footage to the family. This victory shows what happens with consistency and unity within our community and within our class!

All are welcome and encouraged to come to Hovey St. Church of Christ to hear the family’s response to the video.
