For two weeks, between July 21 and August 2, Vernon T. Bateman and his team of artists—including filmmakers, writers, art historians and theorists, painters, and more—are transforming the elegant Gallery Forty Two, Indianapolis ‘ oldest surviving commercial structure, into a distinctive and diverse set of experiences.
The building’s nearly 8,000 square feet will host a range of events for anyone and everyone, including but not limited to:
- Friday, July 25, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm: Illustrate to Educate: Group Show with Providene Cristo Rey High School Students
- Saturday, July 26:, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm: “If Bullets Could Cry:” The Formula to End Gun Violence, a Book Reading and Discussion
- Saturday, July 26, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm: Art to End Gun Violence: A Show and Lecture by Vernon T. Bateman
- Monday, July 28, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm: “The Will to Win:” Screening and Discussion with Filmmaker Donnell Franklyn
- Tuesday, July 29, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm: Individualized Portfolio Reviews for Artists
- Wednesday, July 30, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm: Individual Art Lessons
- Thursday, July 31, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm Collective Critique
- Friday, August 1, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm: First Friday Opening: “A History of Resilience: How Humanity Heals”
- Saturday, August 2, 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Private Artist Talk and Panel on “A History of Resilience”
- Saturday, August 2, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm: Documentaries on Vernon’s Struggle for Exoneration: Screenings and Discussion with Vernon T. Bateman, Derek R. Ford, and the Films’ Producers and Directors.
