Join us at the Indianapolis Liberation Center on December 20 for a family-friendly holiday screening of The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023), followed by a thought-provoking discussion exploring the hidden (and not-so-hidden) themes of capitalism, corporate greed, and the fight for collective liberation.
At first glance, The Super Mario Bros. Movie appears to be a colorful, family-friendly adventure, but beneath its surface, it mirrors the structures of capitalism that dominate our world today. From Bowser’s monopolistic thirst for domination to the power of teamwork and resistance symbolized by Mario, Luigi, and their allies, the film reflects struggles against authoritarian control, exploitation, and inequality.
After the screening, we’ll connect these themes to real-world struggles, examining how capitalism shapes our society and how we can organize to build a better future—one where solidarity defeats greed and oppression.
