ICE is currently the most heavily funded federal agency in history. Continuing a years-long trend, the City-County Council’s 2027 budget prioritizes funding for IMPD over funding for the arts, education, or housing for the homeless.
Both ICE and IMPD have a track record of terrorizing our communities and killing our neighbors. Both ICE and IMPD operate with impunity, secure in their knowledge that the system will protect them.
Just as our immigrant neighbors continue to fight for justice for Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, an immigrant who was murdered by ICE two months ago, we are waging the same fight against IMPD. Dalys Jett, a 21-year old Black man, was killed by IMPD on July 22, 2026. In both cases, armed agents killed a civilian and lied to justify it. We won’t accept the extrajudicial execution of our working and oppressed neighbors!
