Join the Indianapolis branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation for the first of our summer Liberation Flicks series! The screenings are free although donations are encouraged!

We’re screening “Screaming Queens,” by Susan Stryker, which documents the Compton Cafeteria Riot in April 1966, three years before the Stonewall Riot in 1969. The Compton Cafeteria Riot was an uprising that was in response to police harassment and violence that working class drag performers and trans women were facing in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco. This documentary shows the origins of LGBTQ+ oppression in McCarthy-era America and the struggle for LGBTQ+ liberation.

Liberation Flicks will be held every other Thursday at 6:30pm at the Liberation Center. Stay tuned for more information!
